Good Morning Stacy, (Morning here that is)
Friend/Stranger

Bring up a thought about a character labelled "friend".
Then bring up a thought about a character labelled "stranger".

Compare these thoughts.
Is there a difference in these thoughts?
There is an emotional response associated with the thought of a friend whereas not with the stranger
Is there a true difference or is it just different content of thought?
Quite correct, I was just reflecting on that myself and concluded it's just a different content of thought
Now, bring up a thought about a character labelled "friend".

After that, look at a thought about the character labelled "me”.

Is there a difference?
Yes there appears to be a difference based on the emotional response but after reflecting on it I see they are both only content of thought.
Is there anything special about thoughts with the content "me-character"?
Yes, the thought about friend contains some emotional content..Whereas the thought about "me" seems much more real,
up close and personal. So this makes me examine how "Me" claims some sort of "Ownership" or "Doer-ship" where as in fact it is just a thought arising that has no owner.

Sorry about not getting back to you yesterday.

Much Love

Ken

Good work, Ken!

Exactly. Content of thought & no doership. That's it.

Once these things are seen, they cannot be unseen, much like Santa Claus.

Fine about yesterday. Thanks.

Funny you should mention doership. Let's look at that next.

Doership Exercise

Although you see that there is no noticer/ observer/ witness, there may still be the feeling of identification of being the ‘doer’. That it still ‘feels’ like there is a self that is the ‘chooser’.

So let’s have a look at this as it has to do with the sense of seeing.

Take a few relaxed breaths to let the dust settle for a while, and then:

Look on your right.

Then look on your left.

Finally, bring your head back to centre, close your eyes and look in front.

Okay, so when you look on the right, the view on the right is seen (whatever that is).

When you look on the left, the view on the left is seen (whatever that is).

And then, when you look in front of you with eyes vlosed, the view in front is seen (ie ‘black
space’).

So, when the view on the right is seen, do you have the ‘choice’ not to see?

I’m not asking can you ‘choose’ to see something else like another view or ‘black space’ if you close your eyes. The question is; can you turn seeing off? Can you NOT see what is seen?

Same thing with the view on the left, can you NOT see the view on the left?

Same thing with the view in front with closed eyes, can you NOT see the ‘black space’?

Can you turn off seeing?

What did the 'chooser' choose? Did a 'self' choose something?

If you are unable to choose what you're aware of, then what else is there to choose?

This is the Actual Experience of seeing - that which we can't turn off. It just is. LOOKING in this way can wake us up. Practice this & report what is found.

Much love,

Hi Stacy,

So, when the view on the right is seen, do you have the ‘choice’ not to see?
I don't have a choice not to see for sure.
I’m not asking can you ‘choose’ to see something else like another view or ‘black space’ if you close your eyes. The question is; can you turn seeing off? Can you NOT see what is seen?
Absolutely not able to not see what is seen
Same thing with the view on the left, can you NOT see the view on the left?
Also not able to not see what is seen
Same thing with the view in front with closed eyes, can you NOT see the ‘black space’?
Also not able to not see "the black space"
Can you turn off seeing?
No I'm not able to turn of "seeing"
What did the 'chooser' choose? Did a 'self' choose something
Neither. You are pointing out very clearly that there is neither a chooser nor a self.
If you are unable to choose what you're aware of, then what else is there to choose?
Bingo!!!

I'm going to keep reflecting on this with more exercises.

Thank you so much for making this so clear.

Much Love.

Morning,

I will do. I'm just letting this whole (False sense) of doership sink in.

Much Love

Ken
