Dear Abner
I'm so sorry, I thought I'd replied to that last post, but it seems I haven't. I was just about to message you to ask if you were ok, then saw that I hadn't replied.

Honesty is essential!

Wherever you are sitting right now, look for an object to use. Don’t pick up the object or turn it around, only look at what can be seen without touching it or turning it.

Have one?
Now look at it and describe what you see. Give yourself a bit of time with it. Just look, nothing else.

Done?

Now describe the back side of the object.
How is it known what the back side looks like?
What tells what it looks like?
How can it be known that there is a back at all? That the object is 3D?
Can this be known in direct experience?
Can an object be known at all?

Only from memory...thought

What tells what it looks like?
Memory...thought

How can it be known that there is a back at all?
Memory...thought

That the object is 3D?
Experience...thought

Can this be known in direct experience?
No...not if you dont see it directly

Can an object be known at all?
The object, not the back right?
The object can be known by seeing...DE

Even if you do see it (say by walking around it), what do you actually know? (in direct experience)
I'm happy with how you're doing, by the way!

Everything you know is from (the past) memory.

What is memory?
Memory is the way the mind holds and
recalls information from the "past".

Let's explore this further:
I'm giving you all of this exercise at once - take your time with it.
1. Does time exist in direct experience?
2. Can past or future be found in direct experience?
Give detailed examples from you own life please.

3. What are memories? What are assumptions and preconceptions? Describe in detail some examples you have noticed coming up for you and then how you see them in the light of this process.
4. Can you actually step into the future? Can you take sensations back into the past? Again give examples for your own life.
5. Is there a present moment in time? Investigate and tell me what you find.
Answer each question as fully as you can please.

1. Does time exist in direct experience?
No...only the present moment
2. Can past or future be found in direct experience?
No
Give detailed examples from you own life please.
Much of my time is not lived in direct experience.
Much in the past...some in the future

3. What are memories?
Things that the brain holds and then recals.
What are assumptions
Things that you take to be real based on memory.

and preconceptions?
Things that you have already assumed to be true.

Describe in detail some examples you have noticed coming up for you and then how you see them in the light of this process.
I have many "personal" things that come up
about the past. In light of this process im no
longer certain of their accuracy.

4. Can you actually step into the future?
No

Can you take sensations back into the past?
I know you cant..but it feels like you can!!

Again give examples for your own life.
I remember when I was a child. My memories
" appear " strong. I can recal colors, smells, the weather, feelings, etc

5. Is there a present moment in time?
Not sure..
Investigate and tell me what you find.
I only know/find that there is a present
moment.

Hi Abner

yes - and that's true for most people before the Gate. What I'm doing here is trying to get you to look more simply.
What are memories?
Things that the brain holds and then recals.
What are they in direct experience?
What are assumptions
Things that you take to be real based on memory.

and preconceptions?
Things that you have already assumed to be true.
yes, but your answers are you thinking it through: what I want is for you look at your direct experience. Have another go at this one please! Thinking will happen, but I want you to just look. Be an explorer! Look as though for the first time
I just understood the question.
The ans. to number 5 is
No
yes
