I would like you to sit quietly and close your eyes and just listen to the sounds for a few minutes that can be heard both inside and outside of the room. Really hear them.

Tell me ONE sound that you can hear when doing this? (Make sure it is a sound that you will be able to hear again for part 2 of this exercise).

:)

Haha :) You are always good for a surprise! I do not know if it works with this kind of sound. Please look for any other sound from the environment inside or outside: car noise, refrigerator, wind, birds or something ... Something that is just there ... Sit quietly for a few minutes, listen to all sounds which are there (without you doing something to make a sound) and then concentrate on one and choose one...

Hi Barb,

My sinuses are playing up so it might take me a day or two to get back to 100%. I know listening to a sound is not a very big deal, but the headache that i have doesnt give me the space to want to do anything. Will get back to you asap. xx

Hi!

Fine that you are well again :)

Great that you've done the exercise... Now please repeat it (best with eyes closed and a relaxed mood) and tell me:

How is it known that the sound heard is ''fridge freezer"?
What is it that says it is "fridge freezer"?
What is the actual experience (AE) of hearing the "fridge freezer"?

Please do the exercise by looking at actual experience (AE), rather than giving an intellectual answer. Actual experience (AE) = what is actually appearing ie sound, thought, smell, taste, sensation, colour), as opposed to what thoughts say are appearing..

:)

Hi,

Not 100% well again, but better. tnx
How is it known that the sound heard is ''fridge freezer"?

What is the actual experience (AE) of hearing the "fridge freezer"?
Because the sound comes from the location where the fridge freezer is. From inside it.
My mind says it.
The AE is the hearing of the sound.

Because the sound comes from the location where the fridge freezer is. From inside it.
It is because there was a time, when someone told you: „This is fridge freezer, and this is its sound.“ Right?
My mind says it.
Yes.
The AE is the hearing of the sound
Yes.. :)

Find again a comfortable seat, relax, breath slowly and gently, close your eyes. Pause for two minutes and listen attentively to all the sounds that can be heard at the moment.

Is there a hearer, separated from hearing and what is heard?
Where does listening happen?
Watch out for distant sounds.
Where is the listener now?
Find out with closed eyes, if there is a border between here and there.
Is it possible to define it?

:)

Hi Barb,
Is there a hearer, separated from hearing and what is heard?
This question is a bit weird for me but i will answer the way i understood it.
So. The tree dont seem to be separated because there is no appearent time that can be distinguished from when the sound happens and the hearing. Thats how it works. The auditory apparatus receives the sound immediately appearently and it sends it to the brain immediately apperently. So it seems that all happen at the same time.
The hearer cannot be separated from the hearing, only if the hearing depends on a hearing aid. And the sound is separated from the hearer that hears. You could say that it is not separated if it comes from the body maybe. Like a sneeze.
We perceive the sound as not separated because we can hear it in our head, then we learn that it comes from somewere and then its separated.
Are you saying that they are not separated because we hear them instanteneusly? The hearer is. Together with the hearing(if there is hearing), and then sound is perceived when the conditions are in place.
Very confusing question.

Do not think - LOOK with your senses! Tell me what you find with DE. Answer each question separate with the quote function.....

Yes. From DE point of view they are not separate. They are happening at the same time and all is fluid. Bo borders.

Watch out for distant sounds.
