I know that there is no “I” doing the thinking but it feels like that. Are you saying that the thought “Am I going to raise the left or the right hand” was thought by a person, a ME, Anu?
It is very clear that whenever there’s a flow of random thoughts coming and going they are just arising and subsiding on their own and there’s no thinker but in any specific situations in daily life for example thinking about what to cook or choosing which hand to raise there is a mental dialogue that starts and something specifically focuses on this inner dialogue “ which hand should I raise, left or right” or “what should I cook pasta or pizza” so what is it that is doing the thinking and deciding? Therefore it feels like my mind or my focus of attention is doing the thinking and I know that there’s no mind to be found but I don’t know why it still feels like that? As you mentioned that it’s my assumption but this attention feels very real, always present. How could there be a doing without a doer?
Is there someone doing thinking?
What? Anu is the one doing thinking?
A person is doing thinning? A me? A self? An entity?
I understand this very clearly. We say “It’s raining” – where is this ‘it’? Water is simply falling.
Or, “The wind is blowing” – can you find ‘the wind’ or is it just air moving?
Thanks you so much for all your help Vivien. I have to resume going to work starting tomorrow and it seems like it will be very hectic for few weeks. Would it be ok if I take a break for few weeks and write back to you once I get settled into the routine and ready to start the enquiry again?
Please give me some pointers to look into the confusion that I mentioned above :)
Lots of love & blessings to you 🤗
Anu
