LU is focused guiding for seeing there is no real, inherent 'self' - what do you understand by this?
When I am in an expanded space (sometimes during a meditation or reading/listening to the work like Ilona’s) I get a sense of being nothing but an interconnected wave/flow of energy. But I spend most of my time in a contracted space collapsing into a my story, a conditioned thought pattern....the separate self.

What are you looking for at LU?
I have been meditating for many years but lifestyle and work choices have limited my focus on my inner calling. Last year I lost my twin brother to cancer and I can no longer justify playing the safe hand and not rocking the boat. I need a shift in my approach to discover my true nature so I have started to read Ilona’s Liberation Unleashed ebook. This guided approach has resonated with me. I see a belief system compelling me to play many different roles. Be the perfect Dad; the perfect Husband; the perfect Uncle; Business Leader etc, and I need help to dismantle it as it is undermining my spiritual growth. Exploring this growth is now my top priority.

What do you expect from a guided conversation?
A conversation that keeps pointing me back to the truth, until my mind can no longer keep it hidden. I sense there is a fundamental truth beyond the negative noise in my head that has proved to be elusive in my search so far. Books, Meditations, and Videos have given me intellectual insights and flashes of stillness, but I feel a more peronalised format is necessary to help me realise this truth and 'unleash' my true potential.

What is your experience in terms of spiritual practices, seeking and inquiry?
I started to meditate with my mother back in the early to mid 1990’s (I am now 53 years old) when she got sick. I have been on and off since then with my last 10 to 15 years establishing a solid morning practice. This practice has been mainly focused on the ‘Breath’. The last 10 years I added the listening of YouTube videos of Mooji and Rupert Spira and other random Non-Duality speakers when I got the chance. I am drawn to the interconnectedness of Non-Duality. It just makes no sense to me that I must live this life as an isolated separate self. Six months ago I did learn a Vedic Meditation technique involving an internal mantra from a ‘local’ lady because I wanted to change things up and connect with like minded people. But because I am a Director of a prominent business in the local area I struggle to get passed this self-centred illusion of needing to impress people. This tendency to have to play a role is not allowing me to open my heart and truly connect with others. I am now enjoying reading Liberation Unleashed and I thank you for your consideration in regards to finding a guide who can help me realise my true nature.

Hi Stacy, I am so sorry. I have been continually checking all my email boxes since 31/12 and decided last night to send an email to your admin team just to touch base. They sent me the link to this thread so I have just now seen your reply. I would love for you to be my guide but I totally understand if you are now too busy and I have to wait in line again.

How will life change?

Its how I 'see' life that I feel will change. There is an inner impulse that shines through occasionally that gives me a glimpse of some sort of energy movement that this life is. It seems this insight is only on the surface of what I feel is a deeper source that will slowly emerge with the right guidance and enough attention to it. So I see a more inner understanding of what life truly is and less clinging to the thoughts that bring the false-self back to the centre of attention. I see my perspective changing and the flow of life responding accordingly.

How will you change?

While thoughts keep flowing, less attention and interest is given to them. Instead of currently living most of my life in the past & future through my thoughts/images, my attention is focused more in the present moment and finding more joy due to the acceptance of what is happening here and now.

What will be different?

Less controlling and less expectation. Seeing the empty thoughts for what they are and surrendering more to the moment. Free up all that self-centred energy that is needed to continually collapse into the story of me and let it flow into the awareness of whats happening now. The idea of ‘waking up’ like this brings a feeling of relief that the burden of the separate self will pass, but there is also an underlying fear of any possible distance being created between my daughters and wife as a result.

What is missing?

The separate self. The illusion of ‘me’ and ‘others’. This self-image I have been protecting at all costs is exposed to what it is…..empty. But the fear kicks in here. I know my family will love me no matter what and I will love them no matter what, but my daughters are sensitive teenage girls and public perception rules their world. I want to be strong for them, not the guy who looks like he is going through a mid-life crisis😊. I know the real strength is pushing through this people pleasing tendency of mine and right now that’s what I’m here to do

Okay, good. Your expectations are mostly reasonable. Even your fear of things being different with your family might be true, but it's unpredictable & really everyone will be fine, even of some thought story days they're not - theirs or yours.

Now what comes up when is read that there is no separate cell, never has been and never will be? That it was all made up story?

Now what comes up when is read that there is no separate cell, never has been and never will be? That it was all made up story?

Is it no separate “cell” or ‘self’? Doesn’t really matter as I see them as the same meaning….in fact the word ‘cell’ somehow brings about a more enhanced feeling of unity when I think of everything in terms of ‘one’ cell.

The feeling that comes up re no separation, is very peaceful and calming…..even nurturing. The words “never has been and never will be” take that feeling of peace even further. Just like the words ‘no beginning and no end’ for some reason feel good.

I have been fortunate enough to have been brought up in a loving family and in a safe and secure environment. While that love has been emotionally brutal at times (lots of teasing and some family business conflict) there has always been an underlying love to fall back on. But in spite of this, my memories and current social interactions (outside of my wife and daughters) have mostly been accompanied with a subtle anxious sensation that seems to come from a feeling of being a little different…..a disconnect somewhere. This disconnect has heightened since my twin brother passed.

But when I read your question above, this disconnect feeling disappears and turns into its opposite….a feeling of deep connection….a feeling of coming ‘home’. This yearning to ‘connect’ with something or someone can explain a lot of my choices (or perceived choices😊) in my life.

The words… “That it was all made up story” ring true but with some irritation that there has to be some meaning to these appearances in this life up to now. If the meaning to this “story” is that it has simply brought me to this present moment with you Stacy then this irritation fades. I’m someone who has wanted to know ‘why’ when it comes to life situations, so I look for meaning…..i overanalyse and problem solve. Perhaps that makes things feel less out of control. I know the ‘story’ is empty however these experiences/thoughts/energy of life have come and gone through my consciousness….Why? Couldn’t there be an empty invisible universal intelligence that is guiding me on my path……right now through you?
