LU is focused guiding for seeing there is no real, inherent 'self' - what do you understand by this?
There's no identity that's operating. This existence is not "self", its a state of existence.

What are you looking for at LU?
If possible get awaken. May be already existing conversations help me to realize my real self. Make few friends. Lot of information to progress on my path to awakening. Learn something new about direct enquiry method.

What do you expect from a guided conversation?
To make me believe strongly that there's no self. May be to get awaken. May be already existing conversations help me to realize my real self. Lot of information to progress on my path to awakening. Learn something new about direct enquiry method.

What is your experience in terms of spiritual practices, seeking and inquiry?
temporary glimpses, which don't stick .

On a scale from 1 to 10, how willing are you to question any currently held beliefs about 'self?

Hi vedavyas. :) My name is Kento, one of the guides here.
I'd be more than glad to accompany you in the inquiry and experiments at LU.

I'm just wondering, upon seeing your intro, why you want to "believe strongly that there's no self."
Do you suppose a belief replaced by another belief will liberate you in some way?

Let's start from that.

Warm regards,

Kento

ThnQ :)

Well, on my pursuit to happiness i found many teachers, all pointing that "self" or identity is an illusion.
And i am hoping if somehow i realize that this identity is an illusion, i will be happy.

Do you suppose a belief replaced by another belief will liberate you in some way?
I did't realized that i am trying to replace one belief with another. No,creating new beliefs dont liberate me.

Hi. :) Nice to hear from you!

Ok, are you ready to discard all those beliefs, present or past, even those
which have to do with enlightenment, liberation, or "no-self"?

Also, please tell me a bit more about what you expect from this.
What do you think will happen upon a successful completion of this dialogue?

After posting my last reply, i asked myself "if identity is an illusion, who is happy without it?"
That took me to this heightened awareness state. Its so simple and soo close. Its always there.
But it stayed for like 1-2 minutes, inner voice coming out of nowhere. I got easily got attached to this voice.

Now if i ask same question, its not taking me to that state. But its quitting my mind.
can that state of awareness be ever persistent? This inquiry process can make it persistent?

What do you think will happen upon a successful completion of this dialogue?
Hoping that i may be in this persistent state of awareness.

Hi. :) Sorry, but in this inquiry, we investigate if that "state of awareness" is mainly
a thought product. We don't go after it, but rather see clearly that it is just one of
many states, like drunkenness or lovesickness, and not of primary importance, not something to be clung to.

Would this be okay for you?

Just like you are attached to that "voice," please consider the possibility
that you are attached to that particular state, which is, after all, another form of
that very voice you are problematizing; it's a subtle, disguised form of it.

From my experience it feels like its beyond this mind or thought.
Would this be okay for you?
Yes, Absolutely. :)

That's true, my mind desiring it. Its trying to get hold of this state.
I will try not give any importance. I will consider its nothing special.

Hi. :)

it feels like its beyond this mind or thought.

What do you mean by "beyond" thought? Would you describe it in details?

my mind desiring it. Its trying to get hold of this state.

Do you perceive a special entity called "mind" doing that?
How?

I will try not give any importance. I will consider its nothing special.

That is more like a self-hypnosis, and won't work in the long run; please notice
when you are trying to force yourself into something, as that is a form of
self-produced illusion in a very subtle way. Just notice it when that tendency to
"try to do something" according to an idea appears.

Well,in my experience it felt like this awareness noticing this thought without attaching to it. Something thats noticing this voice.

There's no mind, "mind" is just a concept. In experience these thoughts coming from this void or emptiness or i cant find where they are originating from.

"trying to do something" is self produced illusion!!! I accept this.
Do i have to try to remember this? :P
Now i am trying to understand this. If i choose not to understand this, thats also an illusion produced by self.
So what choice do i have? I have 2 options, trying and not trying, but both are produced by this self.
You said "notice" what's the difference from "trying"?

What exactly is that "feeling" when you say "it felt like"?

In experience these thoughts coming from this void or emptiness
or i cant find where they are originating from.

Which describes what is seen more precisely?

I accept this.

No, no, Don't accept anything I write; that's not what we do here.

You said "notice" what's the difference from "trying"?

Ok, please investigate if you could notice without trying.
Do you have to try to hear any of the sound that is heard right now?
