Re: Following Bliss

Postby Bananafish » Sun Mar 22, 2020 11:36 pm

Ok, here you are. :) Enjoy!

1) Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there ever?

2) Explain in detail what the illusion of separate self is, when it starts and how it works from your own experience. Describe it ufully as you see it now.

3) How does it feel to see this? What is the difference from before you started this dialogue? Please report from the past few days.

4) What was the last bit that pushed you over, made you look?

5) Can you talk about decision, intention, free will, choice and control? What makes things happen? How does it work? What are you responsible for? Give examples from experience.

6) Anything to add?

Howdy, my friend. Sorry for the slow response. But I am back!

1. No. Not ever. It’s a lie. A social construct. A hallucination.

2. The separate self is giving the feelings, thoughts, and perceptions that happen to the body the ascription of “I” and “me” and “mine”. Then the thoughts and perceptions of the body as belonging to that body and then that whole bundle of perceptions and thoughts and feelings and body as “I” and so forth. I believe that this begins around the age of two or three. Beings will go beyond this and ascribe personal identity to objects perceived as belonging to the body such as cars, houses, books, and even other people. Yikes. It’s a real shit show. Or not.

3. It is very interesting to see this. Somewhat funny how we all so freely and unanimously buy in to the lie. It is freeing to see the truth of it all. Liberating. Very liberating actually. There’s much more silence and stillness happening within. There is much more calmness.

4. Of that, I can not be sure. I have been in The Finders Course for the last several months and we have been doing A LOT of very intense internal work and meditation. When this site was brought up by one of our facilitators, I really connected with the writings and the app. From there, I decided to work with someone directly, and found “you” or “us” bananafish :).

5. Nothing. I guess, one could say, I am vaguely responsible for feeding this body. In the grand scheme of things, none of these ideas such as free will, choice, or control exist, however. “We” flow with life. This ebb and flows as life flows and ebbs.

6. It was a great pleasure working with you, Bananafish! Your English is IMPECCABLE! You sound like a native speaker.

Hi Scotticus. :)

Good to hear from you.

The separate self is giving the feelings, thoughts, and perceptions that happen to the body the ascription of “I” and “me” and “mine”.

Could you elaborate? When does it happen, and what is the actual process, according to
that happening? Can you give a concrete example from your daily life?

Warmly,

Sure. If I am following what you are asking: like we used earlier, the body bites in to an apple. The sensations of sweetness occur. Biology and science happen, Neurons do their thing, and the being will say “I” am experiencing sweetness.

Or from “my” perspective right now, “I” am sitting in “my” chair. My yoga mat is out and my yoga music is on and I am thinking “I” need to be doing yoga.

Something to that effect.

Hi again. :)

Biology and science happen, Neurons do their thing,

What are the biology, science happening, and neurons doing their thing?

and the being will say “I” am experiencing sweetness.

What is "the being" that says it?

Also, can I ask you the reason why you keep putting the word I in the
quotation marks?

The quotations are to mark the i or me that doesn’t truly exist to show that I am using it as a linguistic term, knowing it’s not a self existing entity.

The being is the body of the seemingly separate part of the Absolute, Life, God, or whatever one wishes to call it. I don’t know what else to refer to it as without ego-izing (haha new word!) it. I’m trying to objectively refer to it and everything else as clearly as possible but it’s difficult with language.

I have nooooo idea. Hahahaha. A bridge between the tongue and the brain to distinguish sweetness from something like bitter. But in essence, it’s emptiness.

Oh, that's speculation ...

"The separate self is giving the feelings, thoughts, and perceptions"

What is happening here, in the actual experience?

I don’t know how clearer to answer that.

Well, do you actually see "separate self" in action,
giving the feelings, thoughts, and perceptions"?

What is it really that this description describes?

Oh I myself do not. Other people who see the separation do. When I bite into an apple it’s more like “okay the sensation of sweetness is occurring” but it’s not occurring to me. It’s happening in awareness. I was describing it from the perspective of people on the illusion, I thought that was what you were asking for. Sorry! So from this perspective, the body will take a bite of something, flavor occurs, but flavor isn’t mine, or occurring to me. It’s just occurring in life. Is that clearer?

Well, actually I saw unclarity in it. :)

You sound like there is the special "me" who saw separation (why didn't you put
parenthesis to that "me"? No, I'm just kidding ...).

And there are two perspectives, yours and that of people on the illusion?

Do you, yourself, find any kind of unclarity or confusion in stating that?
Please reread what you wrote.

Would you like to clarify what's still unclear in you?
