Re: Seeing There is No Real self
Yes. You've been traveling & too busy, so I didn't want to overwhelm you.
What is there besides thoughts? Direct Experience. Remember this?
Direct or Actual Experience is
Seeing
Hearing
Feeling (Sensation, not emotion. Emotion is Sensation plus made-up thoughts & labels)
Tasting
Smelling
Thoughts Arising (but not their content)
I realize your not complaining of anxiety. but if anything can focus you in the present moment. this can.
Here is an anxiety exercise that focuses a person in the present, and in a part of the brain that cannot do anxiety. Basically, go through each sense and say (or think) "I see/ hear/ feel/ taste/ touch ______________." A minute or two of each and usually anxiety is gone.
I see the couch.
I see the keyboard.
I see the glass. Etc.
I hear the train.
I hear the keys clacking.
I hear my breath. Etc.
I feel the couch under my butt.
I feel my fingers on the keys.
I feel the cold air. Etc.
I taste a metallic taste in my mouth.
I taste the coffee.
I taste the food. Etc.
I smell the humidity in the air.
I smell my husband's shampoo.
I smell the soap. Etc.
As far as I can tell, the only time this doesn't work is when someone won't do it.
Loving,

Re: Seeing There is No Real self
Thank you for giving me space and not overwhelming me. I appreciate your thoughtfulness there. I still really do want to see through the self.
Thanks for that exercise on direct experience. That’s a good practice especially when thoughts seem to overwhelm.

Happy to help.
Do the practice then answer this question:
how does it FEEL to see this way?

Re: Seeing There is No Real self
It feels accurate. Without all the nonsense of the mind judging and chattering on. Is there any way out of the madness of the mind? I feel like I’m stuck in a loophole of mind. I can’t seem to see beyond this miserable suffering person that doesn’t actually exist.

Okay. Well. "accurate" is not a feeling. Accurate is a thought, a label.
Where do you feel this in your body?
Write what your body experiences, such as temperature. weight. etc.

Re: Seeing There is No Real self
I feel that my body is here and I feel inhabited rather than caught in endless thoughts in my head. I notice that my body has weight and tune into a bodily awareness that wasn't present before I was doing the exercise. I actually feel like I am in this body when I do the exercise.

Where, exactly, is this feel8ng located?I actually feel like I am in this body when I do the exercise.
Describe it with body Sensations (not thoughts or labels).

It feels like it is centered in my chest. Like a weight there.

Lies are a heavy and constricted feeling in the body.

Re: Seeing There is No Real self
It's just not clicking. I don't know why I'm so incapable of looking and seeing the truth of no self.
