Re: Guided Self Inquiry

Hi Neel

You haven't responded for a week now, so I am assuming you no-longer wish to be guided.
I am very busy now with other clients. If you wish to continue, please begin a new thread with another guide or message me privately with what you'd like to do.

All the best for the future

Re: MS- Absence of Self

Hi Manish The original guidelines which you agreed to were: > Please try to reply at least once per day - This maintains a momentum in the guiding which is important. If you know you won't be able to reply for a few days, just let me know beforehand - It's ok But it's been five days since your last ...

Re: Looking for a guide

Good - Ok. Just a few ground rules before we begin. > Be completely honest with me, and yourself. > Most of the guidance I will ask you what you can FIND, not what you THINK might be going on. If you find yourself analysing or thinking what the correct answer is, you are not answering from what you ...

Re: Looking for a guide

Hi again Milky I don't have a terribly deep understanding of Buddhism, just bits and pieces here and there. I did not know about the ten fetters from the Pali Cannon, but I did just read the Wikipedia article about the four stages of enlightenment. it's just that you mentioned 'Anatta'. I'm happy to...

Re: Returning to the forum

Hello Shay - Welcome (back) to LU. My name is Xain and I am a guide here. It seems (from my brief scan of your last guidance) that the guide was giving you their own personal beliefs rather than guiding you to realise something. I apologise for this. Perhaps we can make progress by using a different...

Re: Looking for a guide

Hi Milky So right now the 'no self' realisation is just something you have an interest in simply because it's different to what the majority believe. Nothing more than that? I have read the FAQ and I know a little bit about Anatta. You have a background in Buddhism? Perhaps you have an understanding...

Re: Nara's chat

I guess thoughts are experienced by mind/brain. Ok, we can go with this as to what is experiencing the thoughts. They certainly appear to exist in my head. If we go with the imaginary orange example again, what is the orange being witnessed by? So eye consciousness feels connected to the eye But is...

Re: Hello

I was meditating earlier today and had an experience that I would call 'no-self' Who or what was having this experience? and it became very obvious that there was no room for anything else in consciousness other than these experiences What do you mean 'in consciousness'? You are referring to it lik...

Re: Looking for a guide

Hi Milky23 Welcome to LU - My name is Xain and I am a guide here. Do you have a preferred name I can call you in our conversation, or will Milky be ok? I read your introductory post. Interesting approach - You almost seem to be throwing down a gauntlet :-) What exactly are you looking for here and w...

Re: Nara's chat

And no I don't think we could locate thoughts, as a physical thing, by virtue of surgery. Ok. If thoughts are not physical, then are they REALLY located inside the head? Or just appear to be? Imagine an orange - Make it as real as possible. From what you said in your previous answer, I assume it is...

Re: Hello

Ok, good. So would 'container of consciousness' or 'separate thing that recognises' be any other than ideas? Is the suggestion 'there is a container of consciousness inside my head' anything more than an idea? A belief you have? Is the suggestion 'interpretation is happening inside the head' anythin...

Re: Nara's chat

Ok - And where are those thoughts located? Can you give an exact location? They are located in my mind/brain/head. How are you establishing that thoughts are inside the head? If the head was cut open, could we locate the thoughts inside? Upon further reflection the location of self being in my thou...

Re: Nara's chat

Thoughts are where my self exists.

You previously said:
I think that my 'self' is my personality. It is that which is recognised by others
How does that tie-in with 'thoughts are where my self exists'?
