Re: Hello

I only mean IF the choice is made it's made outside of experience. Are things outside of experience entirely mental in nature? If we take 'making a choice' as something that a 'thing with free-will' has the ability to do . . . Is there an 'I', an inherent self here right now that has free-will? All...

Re: Hello

I'm starting to think - since all there ever is is seeing/hearing/touching/smelling/tasting - that it never felt like there was a witnesser in the first place. When it is thought "I feel like a witnesser", all that can really mean is 'there is seeing/hearing/touching, etc'. And this means that "I f...

Re: Looking after Seeing No Self

However, all of the fear and what not that comes up with that realization is still here and it has been growing. Sadly in many cases, that can happen. And simply asking you to parrot back 'there's no-one here that is experiencing fear' isn't going to remove it. What is the fear based on do you thin...

Re: Hello

With thoughts like this, the situation seems experientially very similar to the previous exercises. Imagining an image is basically the same as the seeing exercise, and having subvocalised thoughts is basically the hearing exercise. Yes. Nice observation. In a way, each sense has a matching 'mental...

Re: Nara's chat

You don't seem to have much interest in the guidance. I've asked you many questions, and almost all of them have been ignored. We are examining 'choice'. Please give me a complete breakdown on what you discovered during the exercise. If nothing was discovered, simply explain what you found happening...

Re: Nara's chat

Hi Nara Thanks for letting me know. You could break this down into examining two areas if that would assist you. 1) What do you find in the experience of doing the exercise (seeing, hearing, smell, taste and touch). 2) What further assumptions and additional information are added by thinking about w...

Re: Hello

Good stuff, Jake. I see actually that the actions described as 'voluntary' are perhaps described thus with a misnomer. Whatever we mean of an action when we say its 'voluntary', we can't mean that it's truly voluntary, because that would entail some kind of free will which I agree doesn't exist. Yes...

Re: Nara's chat

Not that I found it in my experience I was just trying to understand what was involved in doing the task you suggested. Sure, but you are adding in further assumptions into the inquiry. Specifically, I wanted to know what you found in the experience of doing the exercise. The exercise has made me r...

Re: Discovering Truth

Hi again RWP Really want to crack this, and lately have been feeling like I'm "slipping" from the teachings. Well this isn't about 'teachings' as such - It's about looking and realising there is no inherent self, no 'real' I. Nothing special needs to be done. All you have to do is to look and see . ...

Re: Hello

1) Nothing is found making that choice. So was a choice being made? I let me be clear, I mean a REAL choice . . . not an assumed choice. Even though, in one sense, this action is clearly voluntary Voluntary? For whom? The movements just happen with a sort of easeful-ness which separates them from i...

Re: Nara's chat

The process was initiated by your suggestion so there is some intentionality
Whereabouts did you find this in your experience when choosing?
Or is this simply an idea?
After that though there was just choice happening
Ok, a choice was made.
What made the choice?

Re: Hello

Santa Claus doesn't exist as an inherently real person. But Santa Claus does exist as a fictional character. The same way that Harry Potter refers to a character, etc. (In whatever sense a character can be said to exist - I suppose you could say the story of that character exists.) You got it in on...

Re: Nara's chat

There seems to be just choice and then something happens, my hand moves
Describe the process as it appears to you.
What did you find making the choice?

Re: Nara's chat

There is just the experience. Ok, good. Let's move now to 'choice' and 'control'. A simple exercise for you to do. As you sit there, choose one of the hands - Either left or right - It doesn't matter which. Once you have chosen a hand, raise that hand in the air. Do this exercise as many times as y...
