Re: Discovering Truth

Hi once more RWP You haven't replied for a number of days, so I'm assuming the current guidance isn't working for you and/or you do not wish to continue. You seem to be clinging to an expectation of 'how it should be' that you've either read or been told by someone else to expect. Each realisation i...

Re: Hello

It certainly has two sides in language; the very word 'experience' stacks the deck in favour of a two-sided understanding, implying a thing and an experiencer of the thing. Yes it does, which is why it can be very difficult to talk about these things in order to 'break them down' for the purpose of...

Re: Hello

But truthfully there is nothing at the other end of the experience. Does it have two sides in language? In thought? In conventional ideas and assumptions? Could it be that our assumptions / beliefs / language itself seems to 'create' two sides simply for the purpose of communication? but that doesn...

Re: Discovering Truth

no there is no witness of the current experience or thought. there is no seperate self that can change the current experience or thoughts, there is nothing that does something and causes this to be different Ok, Good. "I am experiencing" or "I can make things in my experience change" are simply tho...

Re: Discovering Truth

there is no "process" there is just witnessing Errr. . . well 'witnessing' is the process that I was referring to - Something that is assumed to being made to happen by something. of the three, I find that which is witnesse. NO process, as I had assumed .there is no "separate witness" saying 'I wil...

Re: Hello

You might be onto something, here... But make it your own. Don't let me persuade you - Look at these things I suggest for yourself and make your own realisation out of it (or not if it doesn't work for you). What is found can be interpreted, or thought of, as stuff being found by a self, but it doe...

Re: Hello

Yes, I think so. The image only becomes an image of 'a table' when memory gets involved. Yes. Good. So this is deconstructing 'the object'. What about the subject? Does 'an image of a self' only appear when memory gets involved? Does a self only SEEM to appear when thinking gets involved? The feel ...

Re: Discovering Truth

Yes I suppose I am. I guess this pre-conception comes from all the readings I heard about this, from ilona's blog to Tolle that it woudl be a very certain and noticeable change. So you are comparing your own experience with what you have read, or from what others have told you? Why isn't 'realising...

Re: Hello

If attention is fully focusing on the sensation there, there's no attention left to consider objects like tables; being aware of a 'table' would be tantamount to distraction from the sensation itself Would 'distraction' mean 'going to thought and preconceived ideas about what is happening for the a...

Re: Discovering Truth

Are you expecting the thought pattern to change? Or for the 'I' thought to stop, or to be automatically 'seen to be an illusion' each time it appears?

What control is there over thought?
What is witnessing the thoughts?

Re: Hello

So I would say that the sense of self - the feeling that there's a self here - is not independent, but rather precisely dependent on there being stuff experienced
Is the exercise 'go to the experience of hand on table with eyes closed', tell me where the self ends, and the table begins.

Re: Hello

Are things outside of experience entirely mental in nature? I'm afraid I don't understand! We were referring to something outside of experience - I was trying to establish what you meant. It doesn't matter. Clearly 'Paris' isn't something you can experience right now - However, you can perhaps conj...

Bump.

Still happy to guide people using Skype.
Preferably those with a Buddhist background or understanding of the ten fetters and emptiness.

Re: Discovering Truth

Hi I didn't get an email notification for some reason here I am If you click the little spanner icon to the bottom left, and choose 'subscribe topic', it should give you email notifications. Ok, perhaps you could begin with 'absolute certainty of first-hand experience'. There is a problem with your...
