Confirmation thread for Vikasana

Hi Vikasana Many thanks for the two chats using Skype. I'm pleased to hear that you feel sure that you have realised 'no inherent self' and it's clear. Here are the first three of the six questions I mentioned. 1) Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or fo...

Re: Hello

Since the interpretation just appears in consciousness Where is 'consciousness' that the interpretation is appearing in? We might have to deconstruct consciousness, since you are mentioning it quite a lot. When you say 'in consciousness', you are treating it like a container . . . and something app...

Re: Guided Self Inquiry

Well..there is this vague sense of "attention" flowing around and doing the looking. So there are two clear things. There is 'what is seen' and there is 'sense of attention' doing the seeing? There's no "I" that could make the thoughts stop ,change or has the ability to not be deceived by them."I" ...

Re: Hello

In direct experience, there is nothing which I can find doing the interpreting. The interpretation just appears in consciousness. In experience, I see light and somehow I know it it a cup. The how is mysterious. Good. So what is doing that cannot be found. So would 'I am interpreting' or 'Brain is ...

Re: Nara's chat

I have continued to do as you have asked and looked to my experience and I cannot see/feel/ hear etc a separate consciousness that is doing the perceiving Ok, good. Is the body perceiving an outside world? Is there an 'I' perceiving an outside world? And I have been asking myself whether what I hav...

Re: Hello

No. Unless you open up 'seeing' to include the process of interpreting the visual data that happens automatically. Well, I wasn't - But let's address it. What can you find doing that? Let's say in experience, you see 'a cup'. What can you find that is interpreting 'seeing' and suggesting that withi...

Re: Hello

Hi once more Jake My post here has been largely theoretical, I admit. I hope it's not straying too far from the path we're supposed to be treading. It's good that you notice this; That we are just philosophising and theorising rather than LOOKING / Being Guided at the moment, but this discussion had...

Re: Guided Self Inquiry

No . There's no real "I" looking for one. Just looking happening. The "I" is not capable of anything. It's just a thought that arises and disappears. When you suggest 'there is looking happening', what do you find performing that activity? Therefore, it cannot be found. "I" doesn't point to any rea...

Re: Hello

I meant ... If I'm not moving my hand, at least I can know that Barack Obama isn't moving my hand. The CIA could be doing it using a wire tap ;) Ok - We'll take the tack that 'I am moving the hand - I am making the body move'. None of the contents of my consciousness appear to be conscious themselv...

Re: Guided Self Inquiry

There's no "me" in the picture to undergo any change in perception. So "l" cannot expect a change in perception. Indeed. So nothing changes. All that is to be done is to realise that there has never been an inherent self. It's entirely ficticious - Caused by non-examined thoughts and misperceptions...

Re: MS- Absence of Self

Hi Manish - Great work! You are doing well! In the experience, it is difficult to establish what is recognizing the computer screen . The computer screen is just recognized Yes! Exactly! Is it clear to you that if you go to previously held beliefs / the mind / thinking . . . you get the answer 'I am...

Re: Hello

I feel, however, that I could still be me without my body. My body is not a necessary condition for self as I can imagine still feeling like me even with a different body, or no body at all. I have to ask . . . What would life be like for you without a body? What do you imagine it would feel like? ...

Re: Hello

Good. Ok, just as a preliminary thing let's begin by getting established what we are referring to when talk about 'I' or 'myself'. That way we know what we are dealing with. As mentioned in the last reply (and I won't harp on about this) but the guidance isn't about fancy non-dual beliefs or spiritu...

Re: Hello

Hi again Jake Great! Sorry, I gave you some pointers on how to 'quote' at the end of my last reply . . . and then realised you'd already been using that facility :-) And I made a mistake with my paradox description . This . . . > 'On the one hand I can say 'You will realise there there is real self'...

Re: Hello

Hi Jake I feel like only an observer, not an agent. Ok. Just as a sideline, it would be wrong to expect 'experience' to change. RIGHT NOW there is not a real separate self observing. The only thing to be done is to realise that. Of course, when I go about my day to day life, I'm not permanently in t...
