Re: The red thread

Dig deeper, go through the different layers of a questions like:
No past, no future? So what time is it?
What does this mean for the idea of a seperate self?
Is there any divide? Any separation?

Re: The red thread

The other day (on a different occasion) it hit home in a whole new, really palpable way that the "past" simply doesn't exist. Here I don't know if you have to look deeper/further or if you need to write more. :-) If there is no past, what is there, what could we say what is? If there is no past wha...

Re: The red thread

What about stories which are said to have happened in the past? Those who seemed to have caused grief or pain? What happens (relatively speaking) are not stories but happenings and thoughts about them. And (as we saw) there's no evidence of cause and effect between happening, thought and feeling. Y...

Re: The red thread

Reading your answers really made me smile - you came a long way! There isn't anyone to be responsible, because there isn't anyone to do anything. And thus, all ground for blame/guilt but also pride falls apart. Seeing the fundamental innocence of everything is such a relief. Beautiful. And yes, it i...

Re: The red thread

Do you mean to say that as a logical deduction (thought form) it is not valid? There is a thin line between a logical deduction and what we already talked about the knowing how something is. Sometimes it is not that easy to see what it is. Just be aware. What looses power is not something which doe...

Re: The red thread

If there is a belief (1) and there is no belief (2) in something which is doing the believing, then 1 looses its power. This sounds like logical deduction - is it? With peeling off of beliefs the believer looses its power. How can something that doesn't exist loose its power? Do you see that there ...

Re: The red thread

With no believer around how much power has a belief?

How do you get on with peeling off belief after belief?
What happens if you do?
Have a honest look: what expectations are around?

Love.

Re: The red thread

What is a belief?
And what gives a belief power? Another belief?

Look around and find out what you all take for granted like in: This is like this or that. How often does this happen?

Re: The red thread

"It seems" that the feeling would depend on the content of the thought. But actually, whatever the content, listening to thought goes with a sense of dependency, constriction, density, insecurity (a bit like in a codependent relationship even when it goes ok). Check this carefully. Could this be an...

Re: The red thread

The seems to is a good description for the moment. It seems as if there is a thinker. It seems as if there is a doer. It seems as if there is a decider. It seems as if there is a chooser. It seems as if there is one thing following the other. It seems as if there is cause and effect. And so on. Yes,...

I do get your seem to.

Please explore "seem to".
Where does the information come from?
Info appears but is it always true?

Re: The red thread

And it seemed as if I had time to choose which hand to raise. Lets add thinking to it: The aim of the following exercise is to discover whether the function of choice can really be found or confirmed in actual experience. The idea of making ‘choices‘ is a very clear example of a function that we wr...

Re: The red thread

No, because thought by itself cannot cause anything (neither falling into nor coming out of the story). The unchallenged belief in the story is the falling for it. ...and it is a pattern/habit this falling for it and it needs time to weaken. They both are just what is at the very moment. I wonder, ...

Re: The red thread

I find the "me" and its story are nowhere to be found except in thought. And today this comes with the seeing/thought of the total innocence of everything and a sense of quiet and tenderness. Prasanna, this is so beautiful. Enjoy it. Thought is never the enemy! It is neither helpful nor hindering, ...

Re: The red thread

In the same way as the repetativeness of habit makes thought appear to be caused by perception, emotion appears to be caused by thought. What did you find when looking? Is emotion caused by thought? Do you find a connection between thought and emotion other than in thought? What exactly is an emoti...
